Any novel aiming at social satire will generate debate within book clubs. I believe this is healthy.
A different set of questions–which I call Critique Guidelines — get at story structure and characters.
Book clubs may wish to extend the dialog to the book’s author, putting me on the hotseat. I’m prepared to answer questions if feasible, and if the seat isn’t too hot.
CREATIVE WRITING FOR KIDS
I didn’t mean to become a creative writing instructor for kids, but the Great Coronavirus Isolation drove me to it. I have a granddaughter who is an avid reader and aspiring writer. When her school closed, I decided to help her achieve her goals. I am not a professional teacher, but I do know a bit about writing and publishing. So, this program is for her, and for other aspiring kid writers. It is creative writing from the point of view of a published writer.
